Tall Ship Photo Safari

Maine's only Tall Ship Photo Safari with Maine Photo Safari

On most Mondays and Saturdays during the summer and fall you can find Maine author and photographer Doug Mills at the lighthouse where his grandfather served 100 years ago. From this amazing vantage point at the end of a mile long breakwater he is able to afford his guests up close views of as many as seven tall ships under full sail.

To my knowledge this is the only Tall Ship Photo Safari offered anywhere.  When asked where did he ever come up with the idea to offer such a unique tour he is quick to point out that it was his son's idea.

There are very few places in the world where you can get up close and personal with these historic ships under full sail on a weekly basis.  The Mid-Coast area of Maine has a fleet of nearly 2 dozen of these majestic sailing vessels.  The port of Rockland has seven of these historic ships. Some of these ships have been sailing the cool blue Atlantic since 1871!

As well as the up close and personal views of tall ships we were also able to see Maine lobsterman at work,  as well as many smaller sailing vessels and marine wildlife.
